I am sure that I am breaking some sort of blogging rule by posting a salad recipe on a Friday. Salads are for Mondays after you have been eating crap all weekend long and you decide, Oh, it’s Monday, I am going to eat salads all week but then you only eat salad on Monday. For lunch. Since it is the holiday season, I was just thinking that maybe you are entertaining and just dying for a show stopping salad recipe. Or maybe you are procrastinating at work and trying to plan dinner for next week. Or maybe you are a person with self control and eats salad all week and on the weekends, too (what is your secret?!)
I want to start off by saying that I am shocked by how long it has taken me to post. It is truly embarrassing. Yes, I have been busy the past three months. My husband (yay!) got a job in Charlottesville and in two weeks, we packed up our 800 square foot DC apartment with a shocking amount of boxes (how did we fit everything in that tiny place?!?) and moved to the “country”. There was also our wedding which took place on October 30th and was perfect. Oh, and the amazing honeymoon which I didn’t want to come back from. And all of a sudden, the holidays were here, and I realized that I am not only officially behind on thank you notes, but that I had neglected my cooking blog for THREE whole months. Oof.
So now I am finally back. But before we get into the the recipe, I want to take a quick minute to tell you about Share Our Holiday Table which I am participating in on December 13th (check back that day for a brand, new post on Holiday Sides)! Share Our Strength is hosting a virtual, progressive holiday dinner with more than 50 bloggers to raise awareness of their amazing cause—to end child hunger by 2015. Check out all of the participating bloggers here and look for my holiday side next week!
I have been saying for months that I am going to start a food blog. In fact, I started a “trial” food blog in January during one of three blizzards that bludgeoned the D.C. area. With only three posts and the most embarrassing photos you have ever seen, I decided to take a short hiatus to read up on other blogs and spend some (key word: some) time planning a new look and theme. And when I found out 2 weeks ago that I was a finalist in Food52’s Best Caesar Salad recipe, I decided that I needed to super charge my blogging efforts. Unfortunately, life kicked in and work has been a whirlwind the past 2 weeks. I literally feel like I have been swept up in a tornado, spun around a few hundred times, and dumped in a random field. Okay, that was dramatic but you get the idea.
